Screw Adaptor
Prauna screw adaptors enable thread conversion, shaft coupling, and lead screw integration across a full range of metric and inch thread standards. Available in straight hex body, flanged, and reducing configurations in alloy steel (zinc-plated), 316 stainless steel, and 6061 aluminium. Custom thread combinations and face machining supplied on request.

Product Description
Prauna screw adaptors are precision-machined from bar stock on CNC turning centres to achieve thread tolerances of 6H/6g (ISO) and 2B/2A (ASME) as standard. The hex or spanner-flat body provides a secure grip point for installation and removal without damaging adjacent surfaces.
Thread conversion adaptors allow equipment designed for one thread standard to accept fasteners or fittings of another, eliminating the need for re-machining or custom tooling. Common applications include adapting metric lead screws to imperial motor shafts and converting BSP hydraulic ports to NPT.
Flanged adaptors provide a face seal surface for pressure-tight connections and can be supplied with O-ring grooves machined to AS568 dimensions. All adaptors are individually inspected with thread gauges before shipping.

Installation Guidelines
Thread Preparation: Clean both the adaptor threads and the mating threads with a wire brush and solvent. Inspect for cross-threading, burrs, or damage before engagement. Apply thread sealant (PTFE tape or anaerobic compound) to the male thread when sealing is required.
Torquing: Use the hex body or spanner flats to torque the adaptor. Do not grip the thread shank with a pipe wrench. For hydraulic adaptors, follow port thread torque tables per SAE J1453.
Anti-Seize for Stainless: Always use anti-seize compound on stainless-to-stainless thread assemblies to prevent galling. Reduce torque by 25% when using anti-seize relative to dry torque specifications.
Maintenance & Care
Inspection: Check for corrosion at the thread interface annually. Re-torque after first thermal cycle in high-temperature applications. Inspect thread engagement length — minimum 1× diameter engagement required.
Corrosion Protection: Apply a thin film of corrosion inhibitor to zinc-plated adaptors in outdoor or humid environments. For marine use, specify 316 stainless or bronze.
Re-use: Screw adaptors can typically be re-used provided threads are undamaged and within gauge. Replace any adaptor that has been over-torqued, cross-threaded, or shows visible deformation of the hex flats.
