Silicone Rubber Strip
Prauna silicone rubber strips are precision-extruded from high-consistency VMQ silicone compound for superior performance across an extreme temperature range of -60°C to +230°C. Available in solid, sponge/foam, and hollow-core profiles in widths from 5 mm to 200 mm and cut to your required length. FDA-compliant, UL94 V-0, and RoHS grades stocked.

Product Description
Prauna silicone rubber strips are manufactured by continuous extrusion of peroxide-cured VMQ silicone compound through precision-ground dies to maintain tight cross-section tolerances of ±0.2 mm on critical dimensions. The inherent stability of silicone chemistry ensures that mechanical and electrical properties remain consistent across the entire operating temperature range.
Sponge grades use a closed-cell foam structure that provides compressive sealing at low closure forces — ideal for enclosure door seals, lid gaskets, and hatches where bolt loading is limited. Solid grades provide higher load-bearing capacity and are preferred for dynamic sealing and structural glazing applications.
All strip stock is produced to ISO 3302 dimensional tolerances and ASTM D2000 compound classifications. Material certification documents with lot traceability are available upon request for aerospace and medical applications.

Installation Guidelines
Surface Preparation: Clean groove or mounting surface with isopropyl alcohol and allow to dry completely. For adhesive-backed strips, primer (Dow Corning PR-1200 or equivalent) improves bond strength on painted or powder-coated surfaces.
Installation: For grooved installations, select a groove depth 15–20% less than strip height to ensure adequate compression at closure. Do not stretch the strip during installation — cut to exact length with a sharp blade at 90°.
Compression Ratio: Solid grades: design for 20–30% compression at service closure force. Sponge grades: 30–50% compression for effective sealing at low pressure. Over-compression (above 60%) causes permanent set and reduces seal life.
Maintenance & Care
Inspection: Check for compression set (failure to recover) every 12 months. Replace if seal shows surface cracking or tearing. Verify door/panel closure force is within design range.
Cleaning: Silicone strips can be wiped with water, mild detergent, or isopropyl alcohol. Avoid chlorinated solvents (e.g. MEK, acetone) as they may swell or discolour the silicone. Steam cleaning is acceptable for FDA-grade materials below 150°C.
Service Life: Properly installed silicone strips typically provide 5–10 years of service in indoor industrial environments. Conduct annual inspections in outdoor or harsh applications.
